Re "High speed rail complaints are bogus" (Another View, Feb. 28) The fact-less attack on Rep. Jeff Denham and Sen. Andy Vidak by High-Speed Rail Authority chairman Dan Richard simply demonstrates the incompetence of our political appointees who know nothing about budgets, engineering, construction, or the environment.
Richard's comments include no specifics and no understanding of the financial needs which are not yet in place. His foolish projections on ridership, time of travel and construction have no validity. Had we used a consortium of French, Japanese, and Chinese who are experienced in designing high-speed rail, this project would have been completed, at budget, serving our public with fast, safe, and efficient travel.
Instead we have allowed inexperienced and incompetent people to waste time, words and money.
