The Kings will be without forward Carl Landry, who has a sore knee, tonight at the Los Angeles Lakers.

DeMarcus Cousins (suspension) and Carl Landry (sore knee) are out for the Kings tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center.

Cousins’ absence was a given, but Landry was a late scratch.

Landry took part in shootaround this morning. He started feeling soreness later in the day and the Kings decided to hold him out of tonight’s game

“The Lakers play so much small ball where Wesley Johnson is a (power forward) and they’re going to spread you out and the three point shot is such a big part of their offense,” said Kings coach Michael Malone. “So to only have one big in the starting lineup, it becomes a concern if Chris Kaman and Jordan Hill come in the game off the bench. Now they have two big, big guys who can score in the post and can also do a lot of damage on the offensive glass.”

Jason Thompson is the big in the starting lineup Malone is referencing for the Kings. Derrick Williams is starting at power forward against the Lakers’ small starting lineup.

*Thompson, Aaron Gray, Reggie Evans and Quincy Acy are the only true “bigs” the Kings have left tonight.

Prediction time: All their injuries aside, the Lakers have played hard all season. But the Kings have the edge in talent, even without Cousins.

The Kings need big games for Rudy Gay and Isaiah Thomas against one of the few teams that allows more points per game than Sacramento.

Kings 115, Lakers 107

My record: 34-23
