Re "Reunion of Bonds, Giants Makes Sense" (Ailene Voisin, March 2): I've watched professional sports for 35 years both from an athlete's viewpoint, and with a social psychologist's eye. In almost every way, Barry Bonds' return to the Giants is very destructive.
First, natural hitters are horrible coaches.
Second, Bonds is a narcissist. He wants to return for ego gratification. Yes, he developed an outstanding control over his strike zone. But no, he won't really care about other players' success. He didn't care when teamwork could have won championships, so why would he now?
Finally, why bring back the poster child for cheating, allegedly. Yeah, great influence on the young players there.
