Marrone Bio Innovations Inc. of Davis said Monday it received the go-ahead from the federal government to market its Venerate insecticide.
The approval from the Environmental Protection Agency brings the Venerate product a major step closer to commercial release. Company spokesman Rich Fedigan said the company will now begin seeking approvals from regulators in various states, and the product should be available in many states by late March.
Venerate “controls a broad spectrum of pests and will be sold into a wide variety of crop segments,” the company said.
Marrone Bio makes environmentally-friendly insecticides. The company’s shares closed at $15.15, up 62 cents, on the Nasdaq market.
