Published: Tuesday, Mar. 4, 2014 - 4:05 pm

A California Highway Patrol officer who was arrested last year for inappropriately touching a man in a bathroom in the Arden Fair Mall has pleaded no contest to battery.

Jeffrey Closson, who was 47 at the time of the June 20 incident, was sentenced on Feb. 21 by Sacramento Superior Court Judge Ben Davidian to 60 days in jail, 50 days of which were suspended.

Closson was initially charged with sexual battery and loitering for the purpose of soliciting a lewd act. He is no longer employed by the CHP.
