Concerts in the Park 2014 mixes local favorites and notable newcomers

Published: Friday, Mar. 7, 2014 - 11:19 am

Sacramento soul standout and recent “Voice” contestant James Cavern will be there. So will Arden Park Roots, Zuhg, !!! and The Brodys. Kevin Seconds – and his ever-enduring 7 Seconds – will bring some old-school punk. City of Vain, which recently wrote a battle hymn for the Sacramento Republic soccer team, is also set to take the stage, as is ethereal songstress Autumn Sky.

Downtown Sacramento Partnership has announced the lineup for the 2014 Concerts in the Park at downtown’s Cesar Chavez Plaza (910 I St.), a list that includes many familiar names as well as 26 acts that are new to the series. The concerts – featuring rock, blues, punk, soul, funk, country and more – will run 5 to 9 p.m. May 2–July 25, and once again, DJs will be on-hand to spin between sets.

“Downtown is a place where community, culture, and creativity collide,” said Downtown Sacramento Partnership Events Director Annie Stuckert in a statement. “The Concerts in the Park Series is a forum for people to gather in the heart of the city. This year’s lineup will provide multiple weeks of free live music and will showcase some of Sacramento’s most well-known musical talents and some new acts that will be sure to leave their mark on the CIP stage.”
