The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a man in connection with a fatal stabbing Friday night at a south Sacramento County apartment complex on Florin Road.

Authorities identified the suspect as Dinette Eugene Patterson, 38. He is described as a black male adult, 5-feet 11-inches tall and weighing 195 pounds.

“He needs to be caught,” said Sgt. Lisa Bowman, Sheriff’s spokeswoman. “He is the person we believe is responsible for the murder.”

Deputies said Patterson was a long-time associate of the man who was killed. If members of the public see Patterson, they are urged to call 911 or the Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115.

The victim has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Charles Jordan, 42, of Sacramento.

Bowman said a call was received at 7:53 p.m. reporting that someone had been stabbed in the apartment complex at 5622 Florin Road. When deputies arrived, people in the parking lot directed them to an apartment where they found Jordan with at least one stab wound to his upper torso. Paramedics arrived and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motive for the stabbing is not known, and the case has been turned over to homicide detectives.
