Re "Once again, scandal hits work comp" (Dan Walters, March 10); Too bad Dan Walters didn't complete his point about the criminal actions of Sen. Ron Calderon and Long Beach hospital owner Michael Drobot.
He left out mention of the true victims of the scandal: thousands of business owners who end up paying higher rates as a result of the increased claims.
Comp providers crunch numbers every year and if claims go up in a certain code, they raise rates in that code to cover their loss. The result is business owners end up footing the bill for this kind of fraudulent behavior.
Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to get a refund when this kind of criminal action is discovered.
