Re "Feinstein blasts computer probe" (page A1, March 12): Is this the same Sen. Dianne Feinstein who supported, and proposed to expand, government access to National Security Agency databases? Warrantless searches? Clear violations of the Fourth Amendment? No problem. National security. Trust us.

Now the feds aren't snooping on Joe Average. They are tapping Feinstein's computers. And all of a sudden, it's an outrage and a blow against the Constitution.

A United States senator ought to know that the Bill of Rights is a package deal. To attack the rights of others is to cut at your own. I only hope that the lesson is remembered in time.
