Re "Barrage of rockets from Gaza hits southern Israel" (Page A10, March 13): Once again Israeli towns and cities were under attack from Gaza. Just a few days after a ship from Iran was intercepted with 30 long-range rockets, Israel found herself under attack. At least one rocket was headed for Sacramento's sister city Ashkelon. It was intercepted and destroyed by Israel's "Iron Dome" defense system.
While Secretary of State John Kerry is talking to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, no one is considering the Gaza wild card. If a deal is worked out between the three leaders, what will be the response in Gaza?
If the Hamas leadership there doesn't accept a deal, then there really isn't one. The problem is that Kerry is ignoring this reality and trying to create his own. I live in Santa Cruz and we have lots of people here creating their own reality. It doesn't work very well.
