Roseville police: San Juan Unified teacher may have victimized students

Published: Friday, Mar. 14, 2014 - 11:48 am

Roseville Police Department detectives are looking for possible victims of a former San Juan Unified School District teacher who was arrested in October on suspicion of possessing child pornography and other related charges.

They are investigating allegations that Robert Alan Kill, 62, videotaped girls without their knowledge for his own sexual gratification.

He appeared in Placer Superior Court on Feb. 26 and was remanded into custody. He has since been released on $1 million bail.

Kill was a San Juan Unified teacher from 1979 to 2011. According to the district, he taught fourth grade at Woodside Elementary for eight years before moving to Barrett Middle School to teach a combination seventh- and eighth-grade class in 1987.

In 1995, Kill moved to Orangevale Open, a K-8 school, and then to a third-grade classroom at Kenneth Elementary in 1997. His last assignment with the district was as a sixth-grade teacher at Oakview Elementary. He taught there from 2004 until his retirement in 2011.

Officers say they have found evidence that indicates there may be additional victims from the suspect’s past, including students, according to a department news release.

District officials posted information about the arrest on its website Friday afternoon and urged anyone with relevant information about Kill’s time as a teacher to call police.

“Creating a safe and secure environment for our students is our top priority, and the district is fully assisting Roseville police in their investigation,” stated the post.

Anyone with information should call Roseville Police Detective Keith Marzolf at (916) 774-5072.
