Deniers make basic scientific errors

Re "Climate debate, continued" and "Climate change debate, continued" (Sacbee.com March 15): An interesting couple of letters suggesting a scientific debate with regard to climate change.

Letter writer Dale Creasey, a retired hydrologist, claims that warming has not occurred. Apparently, he missed the fact that the oceans have been consistently warming and absorb most of the heat. Since hydrologists study water systems, it seems odd that he would make this mistake.

Letter writer Gordon R. Gibson claims that carbon dioxide is an alleged greenhouse gas. Fortunately for Gibson this is a basic scientific fact that he can easily verify for himself if he is willing to spend a bit of money setting up the experiment.

Folks, don't let people mislead you with false claims of a scientific debate. You're more than welcome to check out either RealClimate.org or the arguments page at SkepticalScience.com which addresses over 170 arguments by climate change deniers.
