The Sacramento Metro Chamber on Monday announced a name change for its economic development collaboration and a $25,000 corporate sponsorship for the program.
The chamber said the Metro Pulse collaboration – launched in May 2007 with 15 public and private economic development organizations throughout the six-county Sacramento region – has been renamed Business Bridge: Connecting Businesses to Prosperity.
Officials said Business Bridge will work to foster strong relationships with regional companies, particularly small- and medium-sized employers.
At the same time, the chamber said Sutter Health Sacramento Sierra Region issued a $25,000 grant, which chamber officials called “the largest one-time corporate sponsorship of its primary economic development effort.”
Roger Niello, Metro Chamber president and CEO, said the funds will be used “to help us grow our target industries, continue to develop a business retention and expansion team to focus on our region’s largest employers and apply that model to fit the needs of local employers.”
At the end of 2013, officials said the Metro Chamber and its partners had conducted more than 12,000 visits to companies throughout the region. The primary vehicle for that has been through “Business Walks,” designed to determine what regional businesses need to succeed.
