Re "Campaign finance bill stalls" (Capitol & California): On the first day of "Sunshine Week," which is all about transparency, we see every Republican vote no on Senate Bill 27.
Republicans have always opposed campaign finance limits, saying we don't need limits on money in politics, but that voters only need to know who the big donors are. Well, they had a chance to vote for disclosure of donors who spend in excess of $50,000 in one election cycle and they say no and cited privacy.
Voters deserve to see who has so much to gain from a law that they would spend in excess of $50,000. The money spent is so dark. I need just a tiny bit of light to cast a more informed vote.
Every Republican said no to sunshine and shamefully left voters who want to be informed in the dark.
