Was anybody ever arrested for the killing of Marcus Robinson? I believe his body was found on Bruceville Road.

– Angie, Sacramento

Melvin Traylor was convicted of first-degree murder in the January 1992 execution-style slaying of 24-year-old Marcus Robinson, his one-time friend.

According to accounts in The Bee, Traylor was angry with Robinson because he was a bully and a “gang banger,” who liked to rough up rival gang members. Robinson’s body was found in a field near Cosumnes River Boulevard and Bruceville Road. He had been shot 10 times.

Three days after the shooting, Traylor fled the state but he was arrested a short time later in Homerville, Ga.

During the trial, the jury was told that Traylor had shared details of the shooting with his girlfriend, Glenda Lambson. However, Lambson denied in her testimony that he had done so.

But Traylor’s mother later testified for the prosecution and contradicted Lambson, saying that Lambson knew details of the shooting that only the police and the killer knew.

Traylor was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison. Now 43 years old, he is at Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent City.
