Governor wants NM to stop collecting union dues -

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Contract talks with state employee unions are at an impasse because New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez wants the state to stop collecting union dues through withdrawals from employees' paychecks, the governor said.

The 1,000 highest-paid city, county and special district workers in Sacramento County earned an average of $172,000 in wages during 2012, roughly triple the county's median household income, according to new state data.
