KINGS (24-44) VS. SPURS (51-16)
• Time: 7 p.m.
• Where: Sleep Train Arena
• TV/radio: CSNCA, 950, 1140
• 1. Start fast: The Spurs are playing their best as the season winds down. They’ve won 11 in a row and have the best record in the league. A good start is important for the Kings, who might not be able to rally if they fall behind early against the hottest team in the league.
• 2. Paint presence: The Spurs can score around the rim with Tim Duncan posting up or Tony Parker shooting his floater in the lane over bigger players. The Kings have to focus on keeping both out of the paint and preventing easy baskets.
• 3. Poise under pressure: The Kings came close to knocking off the Spurs twice in San Antonio this season. The Spurs were able to win by making plays down the stretch while the Kings made mistakes. If the game is close, the Kings need to make good decisions, avoid turnovers and be aware of defensive assignments.
