Re "Gun control is not a health issue (Letters, March 21): The day after reading John Paul's letter making a case for gun control not being a health issue, I was shopping for groceries when I faced a big man wearing a T-shirt embossed with the words "I don't call 911" above the image of a large gun.
Considering the implications of that shirt, I probably stared too long before making eye contact with him, and he didn't seem pleased.
Reaching for a box of cereal, I glanced back to find him glaring at me, and I sensed him following me to the milk section and on to the check out counter before I lost track of him.
After the killings at Virginia Tech, and in Tucson, Aurora and Newtown, I remain convinced that gun control is a mental health issue. So feeling apprehensive, I surveyed the parking lot before walking to my car.
