Calm conditions after Wednesday’s twister but more rain on way to Sacramento

The weather is expected to be on the calm side after a damaging twister in Placer County Wednesday.

A showery Wednesday was punctuated by an early evening twister that brought minor damage to a Roseville neighborhood. The funnel cloud that touched down in the area of Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Monument Drive caused roof and fence damage.

Lingering showers could occur Thursday, mostly to the north of Sacramento. The Pacific frontal system that brought the stormy weather Wednesday has moved on.

However, another moist system now over the ocean is forecast to push into Northern California Friday night and Saturday. Sunday should be the best day to get in some outdoor activities this weekend.

Then, according to the National Weather Service, there’s a good chance of rain Monday night in Sacramento.

The rainy days are good news for a region eager for precipitation. The spring storms help ranchers with pastureland growth and allow homeowners to turn off sprinklers for a week.

Sacramento area totals from the storm:

Sacramento: 0.25 inches

Auburn: 0.47

Newcastle: 0.39

Loomis: 0.31

Orangevale: 0.83

Fair Oaks: 0.59

Rio Linda: 0.20

Rancho Cordova: 0.28

Elk Grove: 0.35
