Duct fire at River City Brewing quickly controlled, forces lunch closure

A fire in a ventilator duct for a pizza oven at a Downtown Plaza restaurant on Thursday activated indoor sprinklers, temporarily closing the business around lunchtime.

The fire that began in a metal duct for a pizza oven at River City Brewing about 11:30 a.m. and was quickly controlled by Sacramento firefighters. However, indoor sprinklers sprayed the restaurant as a precaution, flooding the floor.

The restaurant was expected to be shut down for a couple of hours.
