Women’s Club fashion show

The Merced Women’s Club will hold a fashion show during the luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the clubhouse at 22nd and N streets. Cost is $8. Reservations must be made by Sunday Call (209) 384-5880 for reservations or more information. All women of the community are welcome.

College for Kids

College for Kids registration will open Tuesday. A limited number of scholarships are available at the downtown office, main campus or at mercedcommunityservices.com. Call (209) 384-6224 for more information.

VFW breakfast

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Atwater will hold its monthly breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on April 6 at 1390 Broadway. Cost is $4 to $6. On the menu: waffles with strawberries and cream, or biscuits with sausage gravy, eggs cooked to order and bacon or sausage, hash browns and a biscuit. All proceeds go to veterans programs.

Lions Club dinner

The Atwater-Winton Lions Club will hold its Charity Roundup surf and turf, ribeye steak and shrimp dinner at 6 p.m. April 12 at the Atwater Community Center, 760 E. Bellevue Road. Cost is $30 per person. No-host bar, silent auction and raffle. Proceeds benefit Atwater-Winton Lions Club projects. Call (209) 358-1668 or (209) 358-00444 for more information.

Be prepared for disaster

AAA and the American Red Cross will have a free 90-minute disaster readiness workshop at 6 p.m. on April 16 at 3065 M St. A car-seat inspection is 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. that day by appointment. Call (209) 726-7463 for more information.

SPCA looking for members

The Merced Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is launching a membership drive. There are various types of annual memberships and businesses are encouraged to join. The Merced SPCA is a no-kill, nonprofit organization run by volunteers, donations and fundraisers with no support from any outside agency. The shelter is at 1021 E. Childs Ave. and open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m Wednesdays through Saturdays. Call (209) 384-7722 for more information.

VFW post home available to rent

The Atwater VFW club hall is available for rent for parties. It holds 150 people and has a full-service kitchen. Call (209) 358-7224.
