Re "Senate drops 3 in legal trouble" (Page A1, March 29): Elected officials should pass a law forbidding themselves to accept gifts. Gifts corrupt. Medicare administrators, who decide which new services to cover, are not allowed to accept gifts, because gifts are an inducement and cause corruption. Each of us should demand our elected representatives accept no gifts as a requirement for holding elected office. Legislators must serve the people, not those providing gifts.
