DALLAS Samuel Dalemberts lone season with the Kings was 2010-11. Since hes bounced around to Houston, Milwaukee and now Dallas.
Dalembert had 15 points, his most since scoring 18 Feb. 3, in helping Dallas beat the Kings, 103-100, Saturday at American Airlines Center.
The Mavs were counting on Dalembert to help slow down DeMarcus Cousins. To get Dalembert going, the Mavs ran their first ply of the game for Dalembert, who responded with a made jump shot.
Dalembert then blocked Cousins first shot attempt on the Kings first possession.
(Cousins) is a real good player, and when he got going you know its going to be a long night, Dalembert said. Its very difficult, I make sure he didnt get anything easy and make him work for it and shorten his game. For the time I was out there, he kept going into the (post) and come back and Id try and slow him down.
Cousins finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. The Mavs swarmed Cousins with double teams and he was also limited to 27:31 on the court because of foul trouble.
Dalembert did have a big dunk late that helped keep the Kings from regaining the lead in the fourth quarter.
It was really important tonight with Cousins out there to get a big guy out there with length who can get rebounds and block a few shots, said Dallas coach Rick Carlisle. He was getting the ball in the basket tonight, too. He played a huge role.
