Re "Senate drops 3 in legal trouble" (Page A1, March 29): I am a 50 year old Democrat, who is becoming increasingly disillusioned with our political system in this state. I watched the special session Friday and thought Sen. Joel Anderson, R-Fallbrook, spoke very well. He was right. Suspension of three senators who face criminal charges or have been convicted of wrongdoing wasn't enough. I admire him for being the single vote against suspension.

I also watched when Anderson moved for the expulsion of Sen. Ron Calderon two weeks earlier. In my opinion, Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg treated Anderson like a child. I was ashamed to call myself a Democrat that day.

These are the people we elect and pay to lead us. They must be held to a higher standard. When we put them in office, they make decisions that affect all of us.
