Re "McKinley Village proposal creates traffic fight with neighbors" (Page A1, April 3): Thank you, Steve Cohn, for publicly announcing your opposition to McKinley Village. This project does not comply with Sacramento's definition for an infill project.
Under the City Infill Strategy, infill is generally defined as areas with significant numbers of vacant lots, where infill development fills in the gaps in the existing neighborhood fabric and helps alleviate blight and illegal activities. The McKinley Village site does not fit this definition and would be better suited as a regional park or as an extension of the Sutter Landing Park.
The McKinley Village project would result in serious adverse impacts to the Midtown and East Sacramento neighborhoods and should be denied by the City Council at their meeting this month.
