The slight possibility of light showers in the Sacramento Valley on Friday is expected to give way to clear skies and temperatures 10 degrees above normal on the weekend.
The April showers will move through the region on Friday with less than a tenth of an inch predicted for Sacramento. Windshield wipers on intermittent may be needed to deal with isolated showers.
Drier and warmer weather is expected for the weekend with daytime highs increasing in a stair step fashion: Friday, 66 degrees, Saturday, 72 degrees and Sunday, 81 degrees.
Fair skies and warm temperatures are forecast to continue into next week as a strong ridge of high pressure is expected to build over the west coast and slide to the east. The 7-day forecast for the Sacramento region from the NWS:
Today: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 48. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Light north northwest wind becoming northwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 50. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light in the evening.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 81. Light north northwest wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 83.
