Transportation agencies seek to ease impact of ‘Fix 50’ project in Sacramento

State and local road officials are suggesting commuters in the central Sacramento region consider alternative modes of travel between April 22 and June 25 when a major rehabilitation project will be underway on the W-X section of Highway 50 downtown. Some eastbound freeway lanes will be closed April 22 to May 21. Some westbound lanes will be closed May 27 to June 25. Here is a list of the region’s main transit agencies:

Sacramento Regional Transit

Service: Operates light-rail trains and buses through most of Sacramento County.

Closure plans: Increased bus, rail service. Will post details on its website next week.

Closure plans: Potential added bus service, including to Davis Amtrak station; limited subsidized Capitol Corridor tickets; free rides for people with Unitrans tickets; added Paratransit trips into Sacramento.

Capitol Corridor

Service: Operates intercity trains and buses; station stops include Auburn, Rocklin, Roseville, Sacramento, Davis.

Closure plans: Officials say trains have capacity for additional riders; possible discount ticket program with Yolobus at Davis station.

Closure plans: Recommending riders take e-tran bus No. 156 to Meadowview light-rail station. Offers mobile device rider alerts.
