    Saxaphone players for the UC San Diego pep band, who were invited to play in the annual UC Davis Picnic Day parade, get down, literally in the middle of Shields Avenue on campus, Saturday April 17, 1999 during the parade. The parade kicks the day off, and is heavily attended by Picnic Day goers. Thousands routinely show up for the day-long event that is an open house for the entire campus, laced with special events all over campus, sporting events, etc.
