Wheels back on for derby days

Community organizers brought the All American Soap Box Derby competition back to to Elk Grove over the weekend, prompting closures of Elk Grove Boulevard. The two-day, family-oriented event featured amateur racing heats with soap box racers ages 7 to 18 and their parent “pit crews.” The races revive a tradition that was popular in Elk Grove in the 1970s.
