Eliminating code requirements is next step

Re "Reuse of water grows in area" (Page A1, April 14): What we really need next is for local and state codes to drop all permit and code requirements for simple, graywater recycling systems for watering home landscapes and urban gardens, ones that do not employ outside electrical pumps, elaborate storage systems or other complex methods.

Drought savvy states such as Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada have already done this with great success. Permit and code requirements in California continue to present a significant barrier and unnecessary expense to homeowners wishing to install such systems. Time to eliminate such obstacles altogether for simple systems.
