Re "Issa working on his McCarthy imitation" (Viewpoints, April 13): When all else fails to explain any investigation into their behavior, liberals always fall back on the reflexive adjective of McCarthyism to wash away their sins. As usual, liberal emotionalism trumps any facts.
The fall of the Soviet Union opened the door to many things. One was the declassification of the Venona Project files in 1995 which showed Senator Joe McCarthy to be almost always right in his accusations. The liberal media knows this too, but they continue to use it because it works with the uninformed. Comparing Congressman Darrell Issa to McCarthy might become a fortuitous irony. If Issa is right only half as often as McCarthy, maybe we can clean up the cesspool known as Foggy Bottom.
