Cats top Grizzlies; win their fifth in a row

• Highlight: Kent Matthes had three RBIs, Tyler Ladendorf had two doubles and two walks and Alden Carrithers extended his hitting streak to 10 games as the River Cats beat the Fresno Grizzlies 7-4 Tuesday night at Raley Field for their fifth win in a row.

• Local trio: Three Sacramento-area products – reliever Mitch Lively (Sacramento State) and catchers Tyler LaTorre (UC Davis) and Andrew Susac (Jesuit High) are on the Grizzlies’ roster.

• Ouch!: Cats Shane Peterson and Jose Martinez were hit in back-to-back at-bats in the first inning and Hiro Nakajima and Ryan Ortiz were hit in back-to-back at-bats in the fifth inning.

• Moves: To replace the retired Joe Blanton, right-hander Zach Neal was promoted from Double-A Midland. Right-hander Matt Buschmann was placed on the disabled list.

• Today: River Cats RHP Zach Neal (0-0, no ERA) vs. Fresno RHP Jason Berken (1-0, 3.60), 12:05 p.m., Raley Field.
