How will freeway closures affect Raley Field traffic?

Published: Wednesday, Apr. 16, 2014 - 2:07 pm

Q: How do I get to Raley Field and home after the game on April 26th, Kiwanis Night at River Cats? – Bernie Bowes, Rancho Murieta

A: There’s good news for you, for the most part. You will be heading through on a weekend when three of Highway 50’s eastbound lanes will be closed, but all westbound lanes will be open. Your drive to the Raley Field should be pretty normal because you’ll be heading there using the westbound side of the freeway. The game starts at 7 p.m., so you’ll probably be heading home sometime after 9 p.m. That’s when you’ll be using the eastbound side of the freeway. But traffic should be relatively light by that time, at least compared to weekday commute hours. It’s best to expect some delays, but they shouldn’t be anywhere near commute-time delays.
