Two people were seriously injured and a pet dog perished in a fire early Saturday in Orangevale.

The blaze took place about 5:30 a.m. in a mobile home park in the 9100 block of Greenback Lane, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. Fire crews arrived to find two residents with “significant burn injuries” standing outside the trailer, the agency said. Both were taken to UC Davis Medical Center.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The trailer had no working smoke alarms, according to the fire agency.

The fire was one of three that the agency handled Saturday morning. The other two were in Citrus Heights and North Highlands. No one was injured in those blazes.
