Led by medalist Matt Hansen, UC Davis won the El Macero Classic by 16 strokes over Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, the Aggies reported.

Hansen, who began the day tied for third, shot a 3-under-par 69 for a three-round total of 6-under 210. He earned his second career win; his first came in the 2011 NCAA Southwest Regional.

Fullerton’s Mark Anguiano, who led by one shot entering the final round, shot a 75 and finished second at 212.

UCD’s Nicolas Noya (71) and Luke Vivolo (80) and Sacramento State’s Owen Taylor (73) tied for sixth at 218. The Hornets finished fifth in the 12-team event.

The Aggies won their first tournament since the 2012 Big West Conference championship.

The El Macero Classic was the first UCD event at El Macero since the Aggie Invitational in 2004. El Macero, which will soon be home to a new short-game facility for the Aggies’ men’s and women’s programs, will host the 2015 Big West women’s championship.
