Published: Monday, Apr. 21, 2014 - 12:40 pm

Citrus Heights police officers will act as “celebrity servers” at the Elephant Bar restaurant Tuesday, April 22, with all tips going to support Special Olympics of Northern California.

For more than three years, the Citrus Heights Police Department has raised thousands of dollars annually, allowing Special Olympics of Northern California to offer year-round sports training, free of charge, in 10 sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, according to a department news release

Officers acting as servers will be assisted by athletes eager to show off their medals and share their Special Olympics experiences.

The annual tip-a-cop event is scheduled from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Elephant Bar restaurant, 6063 Sunrise Blvd.
