Re "On 49ers: Aldon Smith should get tough love instead of contract extension" (Sports, April 20): I totally agree with Barrows' point. Smith shouldn't be getting a contract extension for all the negative press he has put on himself, which inevitably makes his team look unprofessional.
The 49ers are one of the hardest-nose teams in the league, and by letting their team MVP not care the slightest about how he is looked at from the public's point of view is reckless. Smith is one of the best, if not the best, pass rusher in the NFL right now and he needs to act professional on and off the field to prove it.
It is hard to support someone who is a great football player yet stupidly yells "bomb" at an airport.
