Welcome to Fix50, Sacramento. Caltrans is closing two eastbound lanes on Highway 50 downtown. The resurfacing job affects a small but crucial piece of elevated expressway from 18th to 24th streets that links the region's commute arteries of Interstate 5, Highway 99 and Business 80. Lane closures will alternate during the two-month project.
State and local road officials suggest commuters in the central Sacramento region consider alternative modes of travel through June 25 during the roadwork on the W-X section of Highway 50. Some eastbound freeway lanes will be closed April 22 to May 21. Some westbound lanes will be closed May 27 to June 25.
Caltrans warns of one-hour delays during peak commute times.
