Whats better than a glass of icy cold milk or a glass of strong iced coffee? That would be a blend of the two in one place, now available in a new product.
Blue Bottle Coffee of Oakland has partnered with Clover Organic Farms of Sonoma County to offer a cold-brewed New Orleans-style iced coffee that has just the right touch of organic chicory and cane sugar. Its not too sweet and not too bitter. Drink it straight or pour it over ice.
Blue Bottle New Orleans Iced Coffee is priced at $3.99 for a 10.66-ounce carton, but the price apparently isnt a deterrent.
Its flying out of here, said Rick Mindermann, store director of Corti Bros. Market. Our initial order sold in just a few days, with people coming back the next day to buy more. When I see that, its not just because theyre interested in a brand-new product. Everybody who has tasted it says its fantastic.
We agree. In the words of our tasters, its fabulous, delicious, refreshing and the perfect coffee-lovers drink for summer.
In case you dont know, Blue Bottle coffee is the rage in the Bay Area, sold at a few kiosks and farmers markets in San Francisco and Oakland. Two Blue Bottle coffee bars are inside the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero in San Francisco ( www.bluebottlecoffee.com). Prepare to wait in line.
At www.cloverstornetta.com, the announcement reads in part, Clover beat out all competitor dairy brands in a blind taste test to secure the partnership. Weve partnered with folks who are as passionate about coffee as we are about milk, says (Clover CEOP) Marcus Benedetti.
