Roseville senior citizens can sign up for calls to assure well-being

Published: Tuesday, Apr. 22, 2014 - 5:13 pm

Roseville senior citizens with disabilities or who are housebound can sign up for “You Are Not Alone,” a telephone reassurance program, to receive calls from Police Department volunteers to check on their well-being.

Volunteers will call people enrolled in the program at a prearranged day and time each week to make sure they are OK.

The volunteers have a variety of local resources they can offer program participants to help them become more empowered and connected to the community, according to a Police Department news release. If the senior doesn’t answer the phone after a few attempts to reach them, callers will take a series of follow-up steps to ensure their safety and well-being, including a possible home visit.

Senior residents can enroll themselves in the program, or they can be referred by a concerned relative or friend. Applications and referral forms are available on the Police Department’s website, or by leaving a message at (916) 746-1062.
