Rob Lynch, president and CEO of VSP Global in Rancho Cordova, has been named “Humanitarian of the Year” by UCP of Sacramento and Northern California.

Lynch will be honored at the 21st annual Humanitarian of the Year Award dinner at 5:30 p.m. May 21, at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, 1209 L St.

UCP serves nearly 4,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities in Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, Yolo, Nevada, Butte, Shasta and Sutter counties. Programs include adaptive horseback riding, adult day programs, independent living services, transportation, in-home respite care for families and UCP’s Autism Center for Excellence at California State University, Sacramento.

UCP says its Humanitarian of the Year Award is given to “individuals who have displayed a passion for life and a desire to work toward enhancing the lives of others.” The annual dinner is UCP’s primary fundraiser to support its programs. Last year’s event raised more than $300,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships and live/silent auctions.
