Earth festival

Go green in Roseville

What: Enjoy live music, food and mobile food trucks, electric vehicles, local green vendors and ways to live more gently on Earth at the seventh annual Celebrate the Earth Festival, hosted by Roseville Electric, Environmental Utilities and the Utility Exploration Center.

When: 10 a.m-3 p.m. Saturday

Fashion event

Inside the Vault Textile Tour

What: Shoes, boots and fancy footwear – 75 pairs in all – dating from the 1860s to the 1980s will be on display at the Center for Sacramento History. A vintage fashion fair complements the tours with an opportunity to shop.

When: Docent-lead vault tours hourly 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday; self-guided tours 7-10:30 p.m. Friday; fashion fair, 7-11 p.m. Fridayand 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday

Irish tales

‘A Couple of Blaguards’

What: Fans of the storytelling brothers McCourt – Frank (“Angela’s Ashes”) and Malachy (“Harold Be Thy Name”) – know their ability to captivate with bittersweet tales that have you laughing through your tears. In the stage presentation “A Couple of Blaguards” actors portray the brothers giving an autobiographical account of their years growing up in poverty in Limerick, Ireland

Symphony caps season

What: The Camellia Symphony Orchestra caps its 51st season with a performance of English composer Edward Elgar’s “Enigma Variations.” The evening also features Seth Asarnow on the bandoneon, an accordion-like instrument rarely heard in North America.

Mokelumne Hill happenings

What: The Hill (Mokelumne) is alive with the sound of Chilean-born flutist Viviana Guzman as Petroglyphe Gallery opens its 2014 concert series. Wine and light refreshments will be served before the concert – peruse the original contemporary works in the gallery in style, then enjoy the music.
