Roseville police: Live grenade part of estate sale buy

Roseville police said that a storage container purchased by an unsuspecting buyer at an estate sale had a live grenade inside.

The Roseville-Rocklin Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called when a man brought the grenade to a firearms business on Guiseppe Court at about 5 p.m. Friday. He found the Japanese explosive, along with other World War II memorabilia, inside a storage container he purchased at an estate sale.

The buyer took it to the business to see if it was a real grenade. The bomb squad confirmed it was a genuine grenade and had all its inner workings.

The grenade was placed in a bomb safe until it could be detonated in a safe place.
