Re "Anger at Feds Fuels Rancher's Fight" (Page A6, April 24): This reprint of a New York Times story curiously edited out three paragraphs of the Times' version that revealed the kind of guy alleged patriot Clive Bundy is.
"I want to tell you one thing I know about the Negro," Bundy ominously began in the omitted passage, followed by an extended, racist rant characterizing African-Americans as mostly welfare recipients and criminals who love having abortions, concluding with Bundy identifying the problem as "They never learned how to pick cotton. I've often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy?"
Apparently The Bee couldn't print that and still have space for the accompanying photo depicting Bundy's group as looking like western heroes in a Charles Russell painting.
