Sacramento Republic FC opener sells out, sets league record

Sacramento Republic FC has announced that their inaugural home opener match on Saturday at Hughes Stadium is sold out.

Hughes Stadium attendance capacity for a soccer event is 20,231.

The sellout signifies a record for a United Soccer League PRO regular season match and falls just short of the league's all-time attendance record.

The regular season record for a USL PRO season match was 10,697 established on Aug. 11, 2013. Orlando City SC holds the all-time USL PRO attendance record of 20,886 when they hosted the 2013 USL PRO championship match.

Republic FC hosts the Harrisburg City Islanders on April 26. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

There will be no ticket sales on site or walk-up tickets available due to the sell out.

Prematch activities include food trucks, BBQ, beer garden, face painters, inflatables, live music by City of Vain and games for all ages. Tailgating is not permitted on campus or in the parking lot.

Because of limited parking on site, Republic FC highly recommends that fans take public transportation or carpool to the match.

Regional Transit Light Rail will be operating until at least 11 p.m. at City College Station. More than 1,000 free passes are being distributed for ticket holders.

Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates will be operating two free bike valets; one on campus and one in Curtis Village. Bike riders are encouraged to avoid Freeport Blouevard.

Parking will be $10 and operate in three locations - 3,000 spots are available on campus, an overflow lot is open south of Sutterville Road and several hundred spots will be made available in Curtis Village. Parking lots open at 5 p.m.

Will call will open at 1 p.m. for fans wishing to pick up tickets prior to the match. Access to campus will be available from 12th Street and Sutterville Road.

Additional details on matchday activities, including parking and bike maps, are available on SacRepublicFC.com.

Tickets are available for the next home match on May 3 vs Orange County Blues FC and May 17 vs LA Galaxy II at Hughes Stadium. Tickets may be purchased online with no additional service fees at Ticketmaster.com.
