The UC Davis football team will hold its annual Spring Game 11 a.m. Saturday at Aggie Stadium.
Admission is free to the scrimmage which will feature four quarters of action with a running clock and players in full game uniforms.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet the players and coaches on the field after the game. There will be a variety of activities throughout the scrimmage including a booth where fans can take their pictures while wearing Aggie football gear.
The Aggies have been practicing four times a week since early April in preparation for a challenging schedule that begins on Aug. 30 at Stanford.
Coach Ron Gould said the players are excited to play in a game-like situation.
"Fans will see a very proud team, a disciplined team and a team that's going to come out with another opportunity to get better," Gould said. "They'll seize the moment. The guys are flying around with great effort and great enthusiasm and, most importantly, with attention to detail."
With 16 players lost to graduation - including four-year starting quarterback Randy Wright - competition for starting positions on both sides of the ball has been strong. Gould has been pleased with the how the players have approached earning playing time.
"One of the things we talk about is we have to earn the right to say that, 'I'm that guy that's going to come out and start the fall practices,'" he said. "We've got to keep competing."
The Aggies will return in early August to begin preparing for the 2014 season which, besides Stanford, includes Colorado State plus Big Sky powers Eastern Washington, Montana State, Montana and Northern Arizona and traditional rivals Cal Poly and Sacramento State.
