California's primary election is almost here, and independents don't know they can participate.
Independent voters want a political process that is all about the people, not the parties. That's why they passed the top two nonpartisan primary. It took the power to run our elections away from the parties and gave it to the voters. The results were dramatic: eight incumbents were defeated and six retired rather than face the new system.
Independents don't know they can vote in the upcoming primary. IndependentVoice.Org is working with county registrars of voters to better educate independent voters. Major changes have been made to voter instructions and sample ballots led by Los Angeles and Orange counties.
More needs to be done. Why isn't the media covering this important issue, and asking Secretary of State Debra Bowen why she hasn't done more?
