Re "Birds, fish, trees at risk" (Our Region, April 26): As if the current drought's effects on California's fisheries and agriculture weren't bad enough, scientists are presenting evidence of much wider-scale impacts to entire ecosystems in the state, including fish, trees and birds. At least, the vast acreage of 1950's-era ornamental turf lawns and English-style gardens across California are not at risk of being in decline anytime soon. I just wish lawn clippings tasted better in a salad.
