Two identified in Natomas murder-suicide

Published: Sunday, Apr. 27, 2014 - 2:17 pm

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the couple that died in a murder-suicide inside a Sacramento home Saturday morning.

Ronald R. Coursey, 49, of Sacramento apparently shot his girlfriend, Alyssa N. Williams, 35, of Sacramento several times before turning the gun on himself.

Shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday, Sacramento police responded to a report of a person with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a home in the 100 block of Jade Tree Circle, just west of the Natomas Marketplace shopping complex at Interstate 80 and Truxel Road.

When officers arrived, they found two gunshot victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene by Sacramento Fire Department officials.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Coursey and Williams had been in a long dating relationship that had ended recently. According to police, Coursey entered the house, which he shared with Williams prior to their breakup, fired multiple shots at her, then killed himself.

Five family members, including two children, were in the house at the time of the shooting, but none of them was hurt. Law enforcement chaplains joined investigators and detectives at the scene.
