A microwave-quick warm-up is expected to last through the week with 90-degree temperatures in Sacramento for the first time since September.
The first day of 90-degrees or above since September 15 is forecast for Tuesday. The high Monday is expected to be 77 degrees after a cloudy 69 degrees on Sunday in Sacramento, according to the National Weather Service.
The significant warming trend will bring temperatures around 15 degrees above normal by the middle of the week thanks to a strong high pressure system building over the area.
The peak of the heat is expected on Wednesday and Thursday. The high on Thursday is predicted to top out at 95 degrees in Sacramento, just two degrees short of the record.
